Welcome to 170 years of photographs of Riley County, Kansas
The Riley County Historical Society, established in 1914, actively collects and preserves the diverse history of the county and region. The society, in partnership with the museum and its dedicated staff and volunteers, is committed to collecting and preserving historical accounts, images, and objects that tell the stories of residents, diverse cultures, and events which shape us.
With more than 90,000 objects in our permanent collection, many are photographs and other images. This online access project makes photographs available for public use.
Should you wish to use any of the images on this site for public distribution, publication, or commercial use, please review and complete the Terms of Use document and contact Curator of Archives and Library Carly Farrens for permission. All images on this site are subject to applicable copyright laws.
What's new? We've introduced a new feature: Street View Archives, under the Browse header above. With these street collections you may browse streets from the 1980s and compare them with Google's contemporary Street View feature. We've already added over a thousand images, and thousands more are coming, so check in again in a few weeks if your old house isn't in a street collection yet.
Reloading the home page automatically reloads random images. You can return to the home page from any other page by clicking/tapping on the courthouse clock tower in the upper left.
