*At this time there were American and National divisions of the Cookie junior baseball league. The Elks team was part of the National division this year. The team members mentioned in the May 21, 1961 Manhattan Mercury are the following: Ed Carney (Coach), Gene Sroufe (Coach), Jimmy O'Daniels, Floyd Smith, Mike Caughron, John Stovey, Thomas Motley, Leroy Jones, Jay Jenkins, Tom Wilson, Dick Fortun, Jerry Gaume, Donovan Kundiger, Robert Thornton, Billy Koppenheffer, Steve Marshall, and Jesse Wilhoite.
